Going beyond street photography…

There must be thousands of street photographers out there. Many, misguidedly, interpret this as trying to capture a remarkable moment. This stems from a misinterpretation of Henri Cartier Bresson. I realise that this will be anathema to some people here, but if you have a darkroomrumour subscription, do take a look at this video about Thomas Devaux from 2015. He begins with street photos – his ‘project’ in this case was based on people going through the check-out of a supermarket that came straight out onto the ‘street’.

It’s why he is attracted to the particular person, and what he does with the images, that I think opens up whole avenues of possibility to street photographers. There are shorts of this work, but I couldn’t find a link to the full feature – if anyone can PLEASE post it in the link.
